Community Letter of Support
Dear Indianapolis Zoo Senior Administration and Board of Trustees,
As members of the community, we stand in solidarity with the employees who are organizing their union through AFSCME Local Council 962.
Every day, Indianapolis Zoo workers bring the zoo’s mission to life. They are responsible for the stewardship of the animals, ensuring that they receive the proper care, and engaging Indianapolis’s diverse audiences: teachers, students, donors, researchers, academics and visitors from the city and around the world.
We strongly support the legal right of workers to freely organize without fear of retaliation or interference from management. We ask that Indianapolis Zoo leadership remain neutral throughout the union organizing process and, upon demonstration of majority support, voluntarily recognize Indianapolis Zoo workers.
Fostering a respectful, equitable, and transparent workplace where all employees can thrive is essential to the Indianapolis Zoo’s continued success and its service to the community.
In support of the Indianapolis Zoo workers,
Sign our community letter to support Indianapolis Zoo workers and encourage the Indianapolis Zoo administration to stay neutral and recognize our union.
